Hantzmon Wiebel realizes that great accounting firms, like all great enterprises, rely on great people. Strong ethics and a stable workforce are keys to our success. We know that a well-educated, productive, and satisfied workforce is critical to the quality of our service to clients. For this reason, we have created an environment that encourages work/life balance and lifelong learning while fostering personal and professional growth.
Training and development are also critical to our continued success. The firm assumes responsibility for sponsoring the professional development of our professional staff. In addition to requiring that all Professional Staff earn 40 hours of Certified Professional Education each year, the firm also offers continuing education on tax issues, legal concerns, professional standards, software, and technical issues. Through these training topics, the firm strives to provide a blend of the needs of the firm with the personal interests of our professionals. As you tour our website, please take note of the peer recognition evidenced in the selection of our firm members to be “Super CPAs.”
Our involvement in the community is a hallmark of the firm and we have a long-standing commitment and dedication to the quality of the community in which we all live and work. Our employees participate in various local community activities - from Habitat for Humanity to the MS Society, from church groups to Little League, from gardening clubs to bicycling clubs. In addition to supporting the community, the firm also supports the profession through associations such as the AICPA, Virginia Society of CPAs, and The Thomas Jefferson Chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Salaries are proportionate with experience. Benefits include paid time off, life, AD&D, long-term disability insurance, 401(k) with employer match, qualified profit sharing with discretionary employer contribution, wellness benefits, and a choice of excellent medical and dental insurance plans. We also offer flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts. We consider minimal travel to be an important benefit too, helping to provide work/life balance for our staff. During the year, the firm sponsors various social events and activities that are open to our employees' families and friends.
Our office is conveniently located in the downtown area, just a short walk from the Downtown Mall and the heart of Charlottesville, where you’ll find interesting restaurants and shops. We provide convenient parking for all of our employees - an important benefit as parking in the area has become increasingly limited.
To show our support for the community, during our 75th anniversary the firm established one full scholarship at Piedmont Virginia Community College and two partial scholarships at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. We hope that these scholarships will benefit students pursuing careers in accounting. The firm placed the UVA scholarship in the Charlottesville-Albemarle Community Foundation to demonstrate our support for this important community asset.
In order to acknowledge the relationship between excellent local state schools and our practice, the firm actively recruits professional staff from the University of Virginia and James Madison University. At James Madison University, the firm sponsors a faculty fellowship and participates with Beta Alpha Psi service fraternity.
For the third year, Hantzmon Wiebel sponsored a case competition at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia in order to discuss the firm’s strongly held belief that business should be used for social good. The NetImpact group conducted the event for the first two years. In 2007, Alpha Kappa Psi, business fraternity, developed the case and conducted the “Business Ethics Case Competition.”
Hantzmon Wiebel actively participates in the recruiting process at The University of Virginia and at James Madison University. If you are a student at one of those two universities and missed participating in the web-based programs when last available, please get in touch with Tess Schlemmer, H.R. Director at future@hantzmonwiebel.com.
If you will be graduating from a school other than UVa or JMU and are interested in applying to Hantzmon Wiebel for full-time employment immediately following graduation, please send a cover letter with your resume to future@hantzmonwiebel.com.
