PROVIDING SOLUTIONS. CREATING VALUE.
WHY DO PEOPLE LOVE CHARLOTTESVILLE?
It starts with the scenery — the Blue Ridge Mountains, the blue skies, the wildlife, and four beautiful seasons. Then there’s the history — home to several founding fathers, including Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe. Then there’s the University of Virginia, its beautiful architecture, spirited sports teams, and fun cultural activities. There’s the location — beach, mountains, and Washington, DC, within a couple of hours. And of course, there’s Charlottesville itself — a lively town with a major medical center, excellent schools, terrific restaurants, and a burgeoning music scene.
And don’t forget the business climate, which provides ample employment opportunities for making a move. In addition to the many high-tech and pharmaceutical start-ups that call Charlottesville home, there are many other significant employers, including the U.S. Army’s National Ground Intelligence Center and regional offices of large corporations including GE Intelligent Platforms, Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Central Virginia and State Farm Insurance, among others.
And then there’s the fun. The Virginia Film Festival, Festival of the Book, and Dogwood Festival dot the calendar. Outdoor activities abound, with nearby horse farms, wineries, craft breweries, and orchards offering many ways to spend the day in the Virginia breeze. In the winter, skiers and snowboarders enjoy Wintergreen Resort or Massanutten Resort, both about an hour away. In the summer, the beach is an easy drive.
No wonder Charlottesville has been voted among the top places to live in America, America’s healthiest small cities, America’s friendliest small cities, best college towns, and — our favorite — the happiest city in America.
